Pastor Mark Spencer
Pastor Mark Spencer has a heart for God, His Word, and His people. His desire is to see lives changed through the truth of Scripture and to encourage others to build a genuine, lasting relationship with Jesus Christ.
With a passion for serving others, Pastor Mark leads with sincerity, compassion, and a commitment to biblical truth. His ministry is centered on sharing the Gospel, strengthening families, and helping people grow in their walk with the Lord.
Above all, Pastor Mark’s prayer is that everything accomplished through the ministry would bring glory to God and point people to Jesus Christ.
Our Pastor
Mark Spencer has served Bible Truth Tabernacle for eighteen years. He is a plain preacher of a deep Book — a man far more interested in what the text says than in what a crowd expects. He earned his M.Div. at Southern Seminary and still spends most of Tuesday and Wednesday in the study.
His Calling
Converted at nineteen through a college roommate's persistence, Mark sensed a call to preach within a year. He pastored a rural congregation of forty for six years before God moved his family to Franklin. His conviction has never changed: feed the sheep, love the flock, reach the lost.
His Family
Mark and his wife Elise have been married twenty-seven years. They have three grown children — Caleb, Hannah, and Jonah — and two grandchildren who are usually somewhere near the front row. The Spencers keep an open table and an open door.
Vision for the Church
A church where Scripture is trusted, worship is reverent, families are strengthened, and the Gospel travels farther than we do. Mark prays for a congregation that raises up preachers, sends missionaries, and serves Franklin so faithfully that the city would miss us if we were gone.
