Since 1981 Bible Truth Tabernacle has gathered around one conviction: God speaks through Scripture, and a church that listens will flourish.
Our Story
Rooted in faith for over four decades
Bible Truth Tabernacle began in May 1981 under the leadership of Pastor Brother Charlie Spencer. For 41 years he faithfully preached the Word, loved the flock, and pointed the church to Christ, until his retirement in November 2021.
Brother Charlie was married to Sister Christine Spencer, and the Lord blessed them with two sons: Brother Ron Spencer, who pastors in Elkton, Virginia, and Brother Mark Spencer, who served as assistant pastor before becoming pastor of Bible Truth Tabernacle in April 2022. Today the church continues in Shawsville, Virginia, with the same commitment to the whole Bible and the same love for the Gospel.

We preach through books of the Bible, letting the text set the sermon's aim. No fads, no gimmicks — just the Word explained and applied.
Christ-Centered Worship
Hymns and modern songs sung together with reverence and joy, always pointing to the finished work of Christ.
Loving Community
Life groups, shared meals, and members who show up when life gets heavy. Nobody should walk alone.
Prayer
Wednesday nights are given to prayer. We ask God for what only He can do, and we celebrate when He answers.
Family
Parents are the primary disciplers of their children, and we build ministries that strengthen the home.
